The fifth season of Gossip Girl, an American teen drama based on the book series by Cecily von Ziegesar, and developed for television by Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage. The CW officially renewed the series for a fifth season April 26, 2011.

Later it was announced that Taylor Momsen, who played Jenny Humphrey in the controller, and Jessica Szohr, who joined the series as Vanessa Abrams on the season, would not be back for the fifth regular season. Kaylee Defer became a regular series of state in its role as Serena's cousin, Charlie Rhodes, and aspiring actress, Ivy Dickens. Hugo Becker also has its role as Blair's love interest, Prince Louis Grimaldi of Monaco.

With the confirmation of the 2011-12 schedule announced on TV network CW Gossip Girl would return to Monday at 20:00 in the prelude to the Hart of Dixie. It will contain 24 episodes.
