Walking Dead tells the months and years that followed, after a zombie apocalypse. It follows a number of survivors, led by the police Rick Grimes, who travels to find a safe home.
The comic continues to explore the challenges of living in a world overrun by zombies that take a toll on the survivors, and interpersonal conflicts sometimes pose a serious threat to their survival as the zombies that roam the country. Over time, the characters are changed by the constant exposure to death and some grow willing to do anything to survive.
